The first impressions that I got from junior were that he was a very blunt child, he says exactly what is on his mind. He is a very odd looking child and he knows it, and he gets beat up for it on a regular basis. He sees' himself as the odd man out, he is the last one that anyone wants to be around except for his best friend Rowdy. Everyone on the rez sees' him as basically a nothing, as Rowdy put it,, "nobody would miss him if he was gone".
I did keep a diary as a child for a little while, I kept the daily happenings of my life in it one summer. I think Junior kept a diary because he didn't really have anyone that he could talk to, sure he had Rowdy, but Rowdy didn't want to hear about feelings and things of that nature. I think that he emphasizes that it is "absoulutely true" because the diary expresses his true feelings about the daily happenings of his life as it tells the very true story.
Something that I do that are lifeboats for negotiating hard times in life is reading. I read as a sort of way to escape from reality and it works if only for a while.
The quote that I chose that I found especially interesting was "with my big feet and pencil body I look like a capital L walking down the road". (alexie 3). I like it and I dislike it! I dislike it because he is looking down on himself which he seems to do alot of in this book so far. I like it because I can relate to it. I was tall and skinny as a child and got picked on alot so I understand how he feels.

I agree with i think junior is very blunt. I liked the quote you chose. even till today i still get crap for be skinny.
ReplyDeleteThat was my second favorite quote! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally feel for you on the tall an skinny thing. Well i don't really get picked on for it. But, I'm 5'9, which i feel is pretty tall for a girl. I'm the same height as a lot of guys, which kind of sucks. ha. but I've learned to like my height now. I can reach tall shelves at stores, which comes in handy sometimes. ha
